The community of Betorabato is home to over 3,000 residents, with the population growing rapidly. The nearest health center is located 20 kilometers away and is separated by a wide river. During the last rainy season, the community’s only canoe was destroyed, leaving residents with only two difficult options: walk 27 kilometers to the second nearest health facility or attempt to cross a hazardous, partially submerged dam.
These barriers to access have resulted in numerous preventable deaths each year, particularly from malaria and childbirth-related complications—disproportionately impacting young children and mothers.
There is an urgent need for a local, accessible health center. The community is highly committed to seeing this project through to completion. With just $4,500 USD, we can establish a facility that provides essential services such as prenatal and contraceptive care, childhood immunizations, malaria testing and treatment, and interventions for malnutrition.
Your support can help make this life-saving center a reality. Together, we can build a healthier future for Betorabato.
